  1. Aloha, Snubs did a segment on secure deletion software a while back. It's all well and good, however I've noticed that after say doing a Gutmann Method erase, the files are unrecoverably which is all good, but the original file paths are still there, which is basically like saying "Yes the data was here all along". Is it at all possible to delete the original file paths also? Cheers Cali
  2. Did a quick hunt on good old Google, and other people on the Backtrack forums are having the same problem. ext2 is what's damaged from what you can see in the error. So a format of the stick and try again maybe? Also you might want to change the file system to ext4. All this is from copying and pasting the error into Google. Google is your friend :)
  3. You know the CEH, I thought well it was a bit naff tbh......can't really put my finger on it, but it just seems a little empty, in terms of what it could teach you for the price you pay for it.
  4. Completely agree with the CCNA & CCNP idea, those are really good in-depth qualifications which will go through the vast majority of Networking Foundation for you. On the VMware side of things, dependant on your machine, you can setup and run a lot, especially if it's Linux based :) Since you know the CompTIA side of things too, not 100% relevant, but while your studying and waiting ot do your CCNA look at doing the Server+ and maybe Security+ there not expensive, and with a bit of hunting around only (or jsut buying a few books in from Amazon) you can get all the course material you need. On the plus side ofc if your looking to move into Network Admin, they will look good on a resume. Good Luck!
  5. I agree completely, the Network+ is a good one, along with the CCNA. iTunes U has a good selection of lectures that you could go through. Also you'd be surprised what you can pick from the Haktips and Hak5 episodes.....if you watch them from Season 1 onwards you can pick up a fair bit. Have fun learning!
  6. EDIT - Don't matter, figured out a way. As the topic says, I want to record or download either is fine, the saved streaming from radio shows. Just wondering if it's easy enough done, and easiest way to go about it? Thanks for any replies, they'll be much appreciated :)
  7. WoW!! Snubs on the fourms! I not seen that before :P I can understand what you mean there, hammering the guy for that was just...............filth tbh. I'm still unbelievable stunned everytime I remember watching Tech New Today and learning that Sony didn't a CSO!! A company like that with out that type of position is just mental......an the one they do have at the moment, no disrespect isn't kicking peoples behinds hard enough!! No Chief Security Officer, with how many millions of accounts, credit card data, personal staff data, GB (if not TB) of data being moved around on a daily basis, no top end Security Manager to deal with it. I would hate to a Network Admin at Sony right now tbh -.-
  8. Bottom line from the discussion is it's not legal for me or the next man/woman to do. Time for you to learn to get it covered yourselfs...............althought I'd agree with the Lawyer side of things. If your contact states that the software is the property of the Software Engineer and not the company then you'll roflstomp them in court.
  9. On another note, even with all the information you have, it's on someones property which you don't own, so going onto it would be illegal no? Same thing as hmmm Police take your Car away and stick it in the impound, it might be yours but you go and try and take it away, your doing that illegally?
  10. Ok question, how can you comfirm that the application is yours?
  11. Well from what I've been keeping up I know 2 groups that have had a pop at Sony and had some fun with it.
  12. http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showtopic=913 + Google = Plenty of Knowledge. What are you looking to achieve btw? Web hacking? General Pen Testing? Application? Networks?
  13. Yea I agree with you there it is a little weird, but it does seem like everyone is trying to stake a claim on some Sony hack somewhere. Sony must have really really made people angry somehow, Annoymous to begin with but this is a little out of control now :S Apple I would deffienitly take a pop at (hypothetically), I just don't like them -.- Is personal opinion, won't ge into reasons. Microsoft they fail already :P Google would be an interesting one to be honest.......would need to do a fair bit of footprinting on them :P
  14. ./agree makes alot more sense, starts at the top and lock everything down. From a PR point of view, they could easily play this in there favour if there clever with it. Lock the network down and come back strong, providing all new security etc. It'll be a long road but it's possible (very very very long road) to rebuild what they have lost, are continuing to lose. Still though, I have to be honest that some of the breaches are well....kind of stupid easy to replicate. Especially the Sony Erricson Site attack, an SQL injection from what I've heard also it was a relatively simple one aswell -.- I mean............EPIC FAIL.
  15. Very nice :D Thanks for this, nice little CMD line based distro, will come in handy for sure :)
