ChipGenius says you need :
CBM209X UMPTool V1.9.17_A30515[20080515]
it's usually very reliable ..
I don't have that version, it's not on the russian site, never got around to
registering an account at the chinese site; also, it seems they want money (or "points" as they call it )
and I don't know where to buy china-money.. maybe I could trade in some of wifeys WoW-gold smile.gif

But it does seem like something is working anyway, sometimes the MPT is backwards compatible ..
Is it possible that you somehow have created 2 partitions ?
Remember, under windows it is only possible to mount ONE partition (the first), if the device is seen
as "REMOVABLE". If you want 2 partitions you must change them both to be "FIXED"
(sometimes the MPT uses the terms "zip"(removable) and "HDD" (fixed) ) .

Screenshots ?? Try this, Faststone Capture :
http://www.321downlo...FSCapture53.zip
and then post a screenie of the settings you use in the MPT..

Have a look here ..
http://translate.goo.....3Fname=iflash
maybe you need one of the 209X, 2090E or maybe one of the "8bit" versions ..
btw : there's a password you need to enter before you are allowed to commit any changes .
I don't remember it, but it's in the manual, if you can find that ..

Is it this one ?
http://en.wikipedia....iki/Huawei_E220

You can flash the firmware, have a look here :
http://www.huawei.co...s...e=-1&id=736

I don't know about removing the CD-ROM.. It contains the firmware so it's important if you are to use the device ..
It's probably just a rebranded UFD-controller from one of the large manufacturers,
you will need to disassemble the thing to ID it properly (they usualy leave the original markings )

no its this one http://www.huawei.co...view.do?id=1960

I found another site with some information on it and they had taken it apart and had pictures , but all the boards were covered with something so you could not see any markings on the chips (done by the manufacturer i think)

As far as i can see the CD-ROM just has the drivers and application on it to make the modem work.

I used the huawei update which over wrote the o2 drivers/apps on the CD-ROM and it still worked as a modem so dont think there is any problem removing it.

Nope, you will have to disassemble it and read the markings on the controller-chip ..
They probably had it custom-made somewhere, the VID and PID doesn't return any results anywhere
so it's likely they have been changed . Or you could start trying the tools one by one until you find the right one smile.gif

thanks for the reply, just tried that file from the second link and when I opened it I got a notice saying "can't find IO configuration file".

Clicked ok, so when the program loads boxes 1 and 2 say "check the MCU succeeded, but no flash"

anyone know what this means?

EDIT: don't know if this helps but in top right corner it says:

Vendor info: USBVID:0dd8 Scan type: Level 1
Product model: FlasPID:1430 Master type:2033CMS

I don't have a drive with that controller sad.gif but ..
Generally these programs work by reading a .ini-file when performing the actual flash
so you need to set all the different options, save the .ini-file, then run the program .
Sometimes there's a "production-mode"-option, or something named like that, hidden somewhere that also needs to be enabled . Pay special attention to the "partition"-options, I believe for this tool you need to check the box that matches the total capacity of your drive . Unfortunately the documentation for this tool is non-existent it appears .
Some tools do have good manuals in .pdf, get a couple and read them, these Mass Production Tools all do pretty much the same, just in different ways, so reading the documentation for other MPT's gives you an idea of the principle of operation .

@ DLSS :

ChipsBank tools are here :
http://translate.goo.....3Fname=iflash

It's probably one of these you need :
http://translate.goo...37MZU5XyYYIKLYQ

http://translate.goo...HXmYjTljAjYaMrA

The data-sheet is here :
http://www.chipsbank...1_datasheet.pdf
Sorry, I don't have a manual for this tool ..

( It's a good chip BTW.. fast, allows multi-LUN, private/public area, CD-ROM LUN, changing of the removable media bit etc etc . Great chip for experimenting smile.gif )

Hi everybody, I have a USB flash drive and I'm not able to access it anymore.

it is identified as a USBest USB2FlashStorage Vid:Pid 1307:0163 but inside I found a UT165 chip, one 12Mhz quartz and 2 SAMSUNG RAM chip K9LAG08U0B

It is loaded as removable disk but inaccessible, windows says "Insert disk" when opening it.

I have tried to resoldering of clock because it appeared loose..

ChipGenius sent me to UT163 MP Tool, I have tried many versions up to UT165 MP Tool 1.65.25 but they all give errors (0x12 0x54) and when I press start it adds error 0xA2

I really need to recover data on it, any chance?

thanks
