Seems like there is a wrong setting somewhere in all the options .

The other drive, I have no idea what it really is.. rip it apart if you can and read the markings

on the chip, it's the only way to identify the controller to a reasonable degree of certainty

as it will identify itself as whatever someone told it to !!

Hi,

I am trying to download the AMECO utility from the flashboot.ru site but it does not work. When I click the download button, I get the challenge and after entering the answer it shows a page in russian with publicity and then comes back to the utility description page. I never get the pop up to save the file. I tried all version of the AMECO MW6208 available but no go. http://translate.googleusercontent.com/tra...s-file-304.html

Are others having the same issue at the moment?

Thanks.

Got a 4GB (1GB CDROM and 3GB free) USB drive from BigFix. Chip Genius 3.0 says:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Device Name: ++[F:][G:]+USB Mass Storage Device(CBM USB 2.0 USB Device)(CBM USB 2.0 USB Device)

PnP Device ID: VID = 1221 PID = 3234

Serial Number: 2009041105120000

Revision: 2.20/2.21

Device Type: Standard USB device - USB2.0 Full-Speed (USB1.1)

Chip Vendor: micov

Chip Part-Number: MXT8208

Product Vendor: (N/A)

Product Model: (N/A)

Tools on Web: http://bbs.mydigit.cn/read.php?tid=72332

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Almost every combo for 1221/3234 in iFlash says Ameco_MW8209_6208E_1.1.1.5_20091015.rar.

I downloaded that file from http://www.fenqu.com/Specially/Production/111XKLQH009.html.

I opened the RAR and doubleclicked on the UdTools.exe file to execute bring up the application with the title 8209/6208E Tools(Version 1.1.1.5).

I've tried this for every manual selected 4GB type there was, but I can't seem to get it to work. In the application I've done:

- In the Manuf Setting tab, change the Product Information section to the info above (VID/PID/serial#)

- In the Manuf Setting tab, change the Flash Setting information to select Manual and select (different versions) of 4 GB drive types.

- Click Apply

- Switch to the Manuf Progress Tab

- Nothing happens when I click Start All button

Can anyone offer any assistance? Did I miss a step? Did I download the wrong program?

Thanks,

Swill

Maybe your chip is a later revision ?

These are the 2 latest (available?) AMECO-tools for 8208 :

Ameco MW6208E 8208 1.2.0.6 20090608 (UdTools v1.2.0.6)

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...3Fname%3Diflash

Ameco MW6208E 8208 1.2.0.8 20090724 (UdTools v1.2.0.8)

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...3Fname%3Diflash

(the download only works if you allow java-script for google-translate,

otherwise you will have to download from the Cyrillic-alphabet page .. )

Usually the latest version works on all previous chip-revisions.

EDIT :

Device Name: ++[F:][G:]+USB Mass Storage Device(CBM USB 2.0 USB Device)(CBM USB 2.0 USB Device)

Hmmmm....

CBM is usually an abbreviation for ChipsBank, another chip-manufacturer .

Best way to identify a controller is to disassemble the drive and read the markings on the chip.

While you are inside, take note of the markings on the NAND to ..

You must allow java-script for both flashboot.ru & google-translate (and possibly even the evil-cookie-of-eternity).

At least that fixed it for me :)

Looks like Toshiba answered my prayers (possibly):

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su...lFamily=2409110

Similar file that I was sent by that other dev, but a newer version that may work for my drive. I don't really want to test it out immediately (I have 160gb of stuff on it and only 20gb on my hdd) so I can't report any results immediately. Click on "The Desktop External Hard Drive Powers Off and is No Longer Recognized by the Computer" and scroll down, the drive converter link is near the bottom. Apparently there's some other issue that I don't have that has lead to this potential fix.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Edit: Tested. Worked. Little glitch though, said the firmware failed to install but the drive is operating normally and the virtual cd is gone.

IOSys - Thanks for the suggestions!

I tried the newer version (1.2.0.8) of the AMECO tools and tried 2 different versions of the CBM Tools for the 2090 and the 2092. None seemed to recognize the device.

I did not want to take it apart cuz that would ruin it :-)

At this point, I guess I'm giving up and just using the 3GB free partition.

Thanks,

Swill

IOsys,

Got a free flash drive at a career fair. It has a CDFS partition with promotional material. I want to either remove this or change the files on the partition to something useful.

It shows as 2 devices in chip genius:

Device Name: ++Generic USB Hub(V88 V88 USB Device)

PnP Device ID: VID = 0424 PID = 2514

Serial Number: 6&&24ECB5C9&&0&&2

Revision: 5.00

Device Type: Standard USB device -

Chip Vendor: (No match record)

Chip Part-Number: (No match record)

Product Vendor: V88

Product Model: V88

Tools on Web: (N/A)

and

Device Name: +[O:]+Generic USB Hub(V88 V88 USB Device)

PnP Device ID: VID = 413C PID = 5127

Serial Number: 30G6LD1

Revision: 5.00

Device Type: Standard USB device -

Chip Vendor: (No match record)

Chip Part-Number: (No match record)

Product Vendor: V88

Product Model: V88

Tools on Web: (N/A)

I opened up the drive and the only markings on the chip say V88 5752-24

any suggestions on how to solve my problem?

Thanks

Daniel

@Dengle :

Looks like they changed the VID/PID :(

I've seen one controller marked "V88 6227-24", it turned out to be a Chipsbank (CBM)

controller and this MPT worked : CBM2093 UMPTool v3.3.9.1 091127 .

Since the number on yours is lower, try a older MPT-version if that one doesn't work ..

@neaghi :

Not exactly like Chipgenius but nirsoft's USBDview http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

can show a lot of useful info on all connected (and previously connected !!) usb-devices .

Lately there has been a few card-reader MPT's posted @ flashboot .

VID 1130 is supposed to be Tenx Technology, Inc.

I haven't seen a tool for, or any of, their products yet,

but it must exist somewhere since people are loading their own stuff onto the drive ..

Best way to identify it is to disassemble the thing and read the

markings on the controller-chip .

I opened the flash drive and i think the controller-chip is this:

AMTEL901

24C02BN

SU27 D

(The chip is in a square format and the letters follow this sequence up and down)

I tried this version of UT165 UFDUtility v3.2.4.0 and i didn't try the version of the soft that U send with the link http://www.mediafire.com/file/yzvzqmg2z3z/UFDUtility.7z

because it was impossible to be extracted from WinRar or 7zip. Anyway i tried "Autorun Manager" and the device cannot be found by the utility.

When i tried MPTool (UT163 Multi-Devices Production Tool) v3.9.80.0 and other version of this soft, I followed these steps:

1. I installed the MDPT tool

2. I connected the flash (USBest) and the device was recognized as FABULK device.

3. I pressed F3 to Enumerate the ports

and when i pressed start, shows the code 0xa2 with 0MB capacity

With UT165 MP Tool 1.65.25.0 the same thing but when i pressed start the code changes from 0x12 0x28 to 0x12 0x28 0xa2 always with 0MB

With Super Stick Recovery Tool V1.0.2.19 it shows the size of flash drive 0MB

I think that is a broken drive but i need help for another device if U can with the following information by Chip Genius v2.64

Device Name: USB Mass Storage Device(USB DISK 30X USB Device)

PnP Device ID: VID = 13FE PID = 1D00

Serial Number: 5&&2B17EFFA&&0&&3

Revision: 1.00

Device Type: Standard USB device - USB2.0 High-Speed

Chip Vendor: phison(??)

Chip Part-Number: UP8/UP10 --------> chip Genius V3.0: UP13

Product Vendor: USB

Product Model: DISK 30X

I tried many utilities:

Phison UP13 UP14 UP12 V1.96, MP2232 V1.06, MPALL v2.01.00 (recognize the device but shows a mesagge "Flash Status Error") and all of these utilities show the capacity 0MB. I think that may be exist a solution to fix the problem because when i try with Acronis Media for Workstation can recognize the device and even can be formatted but when I plug in it again and try to access shows me a message "Please insert disk into drive". Please if you have any solution

please inform me. Thanks for your help and Happy New Year 2010. Best regards

Try using this tool... Low level format.

You may be able to find some more info here : http://www.atmel.com/

Some new informations about that now? USBDeview is showing me VID: 1130 and PID 1801

Would be nice to flash it..
