Noaa Weather Satellite Images Antenna Help

Recommended Posts

Well I been getting the parts I got the coax cabling and my software radio is programmed and I got orbitron I just need to know what is the simplest antenna to make and if there are any decent tutorials with pictures now I don't got anything to really solder with so the simpler the design the better. If any one has had practice doing this with SDR let me know what you prefer to do. Also I plan to use my usb rubber ducky or my digispark to pull up the programs and set everything up for recording and automatically stop recording when pass is done.
Also if it isn't much and the design is simple I might make a video on making it on my YouTube. Everythingdigital1

There are many options when it comes to satellite antennas.  It will be hard to find a design that wont require at least soldering a connector or feed coax to the antenna.  Here is a website with some great beginner info and links to diy antenna design. http://www.rtl-sdr.com/rtl-sdr-tutorial-receiving-noaa-weather-satellite-images/

I would also check ham radio websites for 2 meter satellite antenna designs.  These may not be the best option but could be done with no soldering http://www.amateurradio.bz/4_dollar_satellite_antenna.html or this http://www.rtl-sdr.com/simple-noaameteor-weather-satellite-antenna-137-mhz-v-dipole/

There are several antenna designs that work but an alternative to a homebuilt antenna is the http://www.nationalrf.com/satellite-tenna.htm antenna.  It's designed for the 137 MHz NOAA LEO satellites and works great out of the box.

Haven't used one myself but hear good thing about them.  Been wanting to actually looking into setting something up similar.

Use to do some HF WeatherFax.  Fun to mess with sometimes if you have the right radio equipment.
