DVR Solution for IPTV Video

Hello, Im working on video storage project right now, we are testing new infrastructure for video streaming application, so we have qam modulators with iptv output, we stream video from hdmi feed via silverlight server, we also want to backup our content - any advice for rack DVRs with ip input?

If you are looking to build your own rack box, you could check out https://zoneminder.com/
It has some great flexibility, and can handle a lot of input. You can drop it on top of just about any Linux box. Good luck.

+1 for Zoneminder. I've set it up with about 45 Axis poe cameras, its outstanding. Depending on the host hardware, one linux Zoneminder VM should handle 15 poe cameras running 640x480 at 15 frames per sec. While thats a small picture, remember that is about security not about hd tv quality display. You can run higher resolution of course, but that translates into more pizels being saved. I sent all the /video to a SAN. I seem to remember that at my resolution I was able to save a weeks worth of video at 1 TB of storage per camera. that meant recording all day for 12 hours, and motion detect for the next 12 hours. All together using 3 virtual servers running zoneminder.
