My Phone battery just exploded!

Well, start by taking it to whatever shop you bought it from and complain about a "minor technical malfunction" before providing them with the broken remains. Maybe they have any thoughts.

The main question is: is there anything irreplaceable on there and if so, why didn't you back this up someplace? Maybe they can get some of it back. Maybe the sd card is still intact...

I have every bit of data on my phone backed up to one of my 1 tb hard drives and I have another drive backing up my phone's data at my cousin's house many miles away. I am concerned about my safety. I opened the window and shut the door and then put a old carpet under the door. I been reading online that the gases that the batteries in phone give off is highly toxic when they explode. The batteries didn't catch fire but they made a VERY loud boom sound. Should I called the epa and if not who should I call? It was a iphone 4.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Lithium is used to add color to fireworks. I wouldn't recommend getting a nice, long whiff of it, but it's not like Tsjernobyl erupted in your home.

If there's one thing that's easy to find online it's people saying so-and-so will kill you where you stand, though rarely backed up by actual, scientific evidence.

Do you think apple will give me a new phone because that explosion could of burned down my house and if I was near the explosion (which could have very likely happened) I could be deaf. The explosion shook my house a little and I was more than 30 feet away from it on the bottom floor of my house.

If they give you a new phone it won't be because you were in mortal danger. It would be because you have proof they sold you a defective piece of junk. In my personal opinion, that statement still qualifies for those that didn't explode and before you ask, yes, I own one and no, it's my work phone and I'm to cheap to buy a personal one.

In MythBusters season 1, episode 4 they modify a nailgun to shoot a penny at terminal velocity. However they accidentally fire it when it's pointed upwards, breaking one of their CFL lamps and because of the mercury vapour that's in those things they had to evacuate the room for 15 minutes while they air it out.

I like how this news anchor is basically telling people that the EPA are exaggerating. I wouldn't be surprised if that same guy sues someone under the terrorism laws just for farting in the elevator he's in (chemical attack!!!) Why do people even watch Fox News? I'm in Europe so I can't even watch it but the clips I get exposed to, the gems I'm sure, really make you wonder.

as idiotic as this sounds. I am actually surprised and alittle jealous, one drunken and very good night, a few friends and myself tried to replicate serveral senerios that we read online where a battery exploded or caught on fire. ubfortunately 9or fotunately depending on how you look at it) We was unsucessful 9/10 times.

What as the tempature the device was being stored at?

Was it stored in a hot car during the dat at all?

It was on my floor and I was over 30 feet away at least and the phone was charging. When I left it the battery level was at about 20% and I left it for about 5 min and then I heard a very loud explosion. Why would you want that to happen? Years before this happened I left the phone in my hot car and the phone said it needed to cool down but it never had any problems until now. I would say it was about 21c-23c (room temp). I was using the official apple changer and cable and they where never damaged and where in top shape that came with the phone.
