I followed from this page: http://wiki.wifipineapple.com/#!build_guide.md I ran into issue, that package in this build is 1.1.3 from openwrt. We have just moved to rc2 for the upcoming firmware. Depending on what your patches do, you can send them along for review into the official firmware.
