I came here to learn about the hackable Turnigy 9x transmitter. I been flying the EOX, the same quadcopter as the host and ready to move up so I am looking into transmitters. I myself build and fly Quadcopters and know some things. So you might find someone to answer you questions but as far as I know there are no actual threads yet. I fly with a Futaba 14sg and I love it. But I have heard some great things about the 9x. There are some websites you can search for that have some great information on hacking the Turnigy 9x. There are lots of fine sites on the interwebs like diydrones, only advice I'd give people is, weigh all the shit you want to stick on it before you think about ordering motors/plus keep in mind the weight of batteries, and 3D printing the arms is fine for small quads, but they break really quickly when scaled up. Thank you for your time. The forum and the show are two different things, the show is the whim of the hosts and production team. You may find that they will start something on here, but will not get much interest past, oh that's cool. RC stuff is an expensive hobby, and has limited use. Developing a community around an expensive hobby takes years, its not like you just have the stuff laying around the house like a laptop, or can pick it up for under $15 like a soldering iron. The simple fact of the matter is there's no specific quadcopter section because so far interest within the forum community to discuss them has been not particularly high. What I'm suggesting is you simply use this section of the forum to initiate whatever discussion you want to have about quadcopters and when the forum admins see that there is sufficient interest amongst the forum members they'll make a subforum for it. A number of forum members do own and play with their drones and calls for a subforum have been made before. The best way to guarantee this subforum will never get created would be by leaving. Also got my wife the little Hubsan Nano so she can learn too. I'd love to get myself something a bit bigger for some more outdoor flying, but don't go. Stay, talk, discuss. I want to try and add a pineapple to my F330. Bought "Hacking and Penetration Testing with Low Power Devices " by Philip Polstra. As well as a beaglebone black and have been playing with it. So many fun things to do with this project.. Screw just a toy, I want a mobile platform that can sit somewhere and bring Havok. Responsibly and legally of course the hubsan C is a fun one to fly. Waiting on my '1 GRAM NTSC CAMERA' , already bought the 'M5802 5.8GHz 200mW 3V transmitter module', to make it an FPV flyer. Wonder if it will hold the weight while still being able to manuever good. Check out this video: I've seen it, a fancy camera platform, is still a camera platform. The use for something like that would be searching buildings. Drones are cool, I like them but I'm realistic about their use. Fire and mountain recuse are two great uses for them, I'm still not convinced on the personal everyman use, bit like 3D printers and I own one of those too lol. Part of delivery is that it takes care of when residents are not home and can leave the packages on your porch, for which I would rather a human be doing it because 1, they have a job/better for the economy, and 2, better chances of delivery since a GPS drone would be pretty usless unless manned by a human controlling the package drop. I don't want them left on my roof or in the nearby woods. Not every persons house is free of trees or live in single housing, so city people in a high rise, this would probably fail pretty quickly being left on the sidewalk or lost if not handed to someone at their door or directly to their mail slot depending on the home. metatron Posted March 31, 2015 Share Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) GPS on its own is not ideal for drones, that's why most people use a base station as a fixed (at the time of take off) position.I don't have much interest in remote control, aircraft that are little more than a cheap RC unit, a camera and an gyroscope to keep it stable. I mean in the 1980s who would of thought that cell phone would be able to check digital letters, show you your favorite recipe, remind you of an appoint, allow you to not only take but also watch movies...you get the idea. I find the implementations of the tech interesting and look forward to finding the right spot for the tech. I currently live at the end of a long gated driveway and i am a very private person. Right now I don't have any particular use for my quadcopter other than fun but that's really the only reason I want it. It's a way to unwind and stay involved in cool tech. I wanted to know what went into building one so I built one. Now I like looking at how I can improve it, just like I do with software only it's more expensive . The thing is 1980's cell phones were solving a common problem of being in contact with people while not at home. The push to integrate more features, was more of an incremental thing, stemming from what users were doing, i.e. text based subscription services for sports news. That "data service" was largely killed when phone manufacturers embraced WAP and very basic browsers, which were seen by the manufacturers as being a wanted feature, based on the use of data services. Hell I remember using the IR from my Sony Clie to connect to my Nokia 8210 and dial my then ISP freeserve to get email over gsm. Drones solve a problem, which really isn't an everyday problem, that is the need to kill and/spy on people and later on search and rescue. They do those things very well, but they don't beat PIR sensors and cameras at a personal level, well not unless you have one with a molten salt reactor and thermal imaging camera, flying above you 24/7, with some sexy optics.
