And anyone know of a backup software that can be ran from a USB and backups default Desktop/Documents/Etc folders or predefined? I'm trying to make it easy on me when I repair pc's so I just plug n play a USB and run the software to backup default folders into my USB. digip Posted July 10, 2013 Share Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) USB4WIN is a nice one for windows users and can select tools you need. For other systems, install disks to boot off of and USB media with tools specific to an OS. There are also things like Hirens boot disk, but not sure if its still maintained. Comes down to what needs fixing, and what tool does the job. Lots of live linux disks these days have tools to fix linux, windows and macs though. Search Distro Watch. I would post an example but I am tired and I dropped my laptop a while ago with the flash drive that had my scripts on in the USB port and the USB connector snapped off(It was a latitude laptop so it survived.) I have yet to get it soldered back on, the traces ripped right off.
