  1. Hi all, I have multiple wireless devices connected to one computer and I'm trying to create a BASH script to find the LogicalName of one of them automatically. For example, I have WLAN0, WLAN1 and WLAN2 connected. I want to find the LogicalName for my 'Super Awesome WiFi Thingy'. So far I have been unable to find a line of BASH that will take the Device Name 'Super Awesome WiFi Thingy' and find which WLAN LogicalName it belongs to. Any ideas? *Edit* I need to output to a variable in format 'WLAN#', rather than just display a list of devices. Thank you.
  2. I purchased one of those portable routers by Netgear off of eBay. The TP-WR703N now has openwrt on it. I've never used openwrt other than my experience with the nano and it's a little overwhelming. What are some of my options utilizing the portable router to benefit the pineapple? Such as create a repeating access points to extend the PineAP? Or creating a compromised/controlled wlan by connecting an ethernet to the usb via a rj45 adapter to the pineapple? My mind's eye creates several possibilities but when I try to focus in on an idea everything gets fuzzy..
  3. I love this little thing, I've had it for less than a week and I've learned a lot already. Sadly, my WLAN0 has gone missing from my WIFI Client dropdown menu under Networking. I can see that it exsists under the Advanced Menu, I can also change it's MAC address. I was using an AWUS036H, a tiny Edimax Dongle and/or the tiny dongle sold by Hakshop testing out range for about an hour. I turned it off via the GUI, came back to it a few hours later and I was wlan0-less. I wish I knew more about the UNIX commands but I don't at the moment. Somewhere in one of the logs, I believe I saw something that seemed the firmware for one of the dongles had replaced the wlan0 firmware. I'm not sure but I sure do miss it. I get paranoid when powerful little tools act funky. Could you glance over these logs and tell me if something nefarious is going on? I've reset it hard and soft, flashed the firmware and updated it all in different order several times. The logs change slightly from here to there but I can't tell what it all means exactly. Here are the logs from this morning (5am is) DMESG AFTER REFLASHING FIRMWARE: [ 0.000000] Linux version 3.18.23 (sebkinne@Worker) (gcc version 4.8.3 (OpenWrt/Linaro GCC 4.8-2014.04 r46591) ) #13 Thu Jan 21 13:34:28 PST 2016 [ 0.000000] MyLoader: sysp=8a14b024, boardp=44b65156, parts=b69f8d32 [ 0.000000] bootconsole [early0] enabled [ 0.000000] CPU0 revision is: 00019374 (MIPS 24Kc) [ 0.000000] SoC: Atheros AR9330 rev 1 [ 0.000000] Determined physical RAM map: [ 0.000000] memory: 04000000 @ 00000000 (usable) [ 0.000000] Initrd not found or empty - disabling initrd [ 0.000000] Zone ranges: [ 0.000000] Normal [mem 0x00000000-0x03ffffff] [ 0.000000] Movable zone start for each node [ 0.000000] Early memory node ranges [ 0.000000] node 0: [mem 0x00000000-0x03ffffff] [ 0.000000] Initmem setup node 0 [mem 0x00000000-0x03ffffff] [ 0.000000] On node 0 totalpages: 16384 [ 0.000000] free_area_init_node: node 0, pgdat 80355cf0, node_mem_map 81000000 [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 128 pages used for memmap [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 0 pages reserved [ 0.000000] Normal zone: 16384 pages, LIFO batch:3 [ 0.000000] Primary instruction cache 64kB, VIPT, 4-way, linesize 32 bytes. 4. So I just got my Wifi Pineapple and it does its job very well. But I have a program, specifically for Kali and it doesnt work for the Wifi Pineapple (because the dev won't support it) Is their any way for kali to recongnize wlan0 and wlan1 as devices? - ninjapriest2000
  5. When I turn wlan0 on the blue led stay's on, is this intended? With wlan1 on there is no light ? I thought the blue on was an indicator of the flash process?
  6. Hello everyone. I'm currently having trouble with client mode on the wi-Fi pineapple. My problem is that when I try to enable wlan0 on the network tile it doesn't allow me to. I can see in the URL bar that it tries to do this but instead of initializing/ enabling wlan0 it just refreshes the bar. I will attach a link to an image of this below. I hope that someone here can help me with the problem and thank you for any help you might be able to give. Thanks, Tekk3y.
  7. I built a PirateBox last year and I want to take the concept and expand it. I'm talking about a wireless network that has no access to the internet, but has local sites(wiki pages, blogs, chat rooms, filesharing) and people can communicate over it. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to complete this project to my desired end right now, but that's not going to stop me from getting started. My idea is to deploy this in my college campus. I'm not transferring into a university for at least another year; this would be something fun to work on and keep my head focused on what I love to do. I'll start simple: a basic form of filesharing, a way to chat, and of course an imageboard. I'm thinking I'll take an old computer and turn it into a dedicated webserver(linux?) and connect it to a router. I'd love to find a cheap, yet fast, router that can run dd-wrt or openwrt. Ideally, I want to make the project easily expandable. Where all I need is to add more, better equipment and be able to handle more users without much lag. I know Darren was speaking about projects like this in a talk he did at some hackerspace(Hak5 1426.3), yet I've found little on the web on it. I probably don't know what I'm looking for. I'd love any input and help from the hak5 community. Thanks in advance! Edit: They're called Mesh Networks
  8. I'm not too sure if this should be reported as a bug or not, but I decided to put it in the forum, and if necessary Sebkinne or others can move it. Although this is not a serious problem for me, it would be great if this was an easy fix:) So the thing is that when the Pineapple (2.6.3, and prev) is booted with the Awus036h connected the wlan interfaces get switched. Meaning that the internal wlan interface becomes wlan1. I think this might be related to http://forums.hak5.o...-usb-wlan-boot/ which states that 2.6.3+ should be fixed(at least regarding Ralink RT2501. I'm posting some images to show my findings, and posting logs if needed. This is a fresh booted pineapple, and the awus036h is connected after boot The pineapple is booted with the awus036h inserted. Also the status page says that the internal wifi is not up, although that's what I'm connected via when reporting this. As a sidenote the Network Manager module is not able to bring up the device, Auto-detect or not. I have to ssh in to the Pineapple and issue ifconfig wlan1 up.
  9. I have the pineapple mark IV and have been playing around with it, absolutely love it! :D About 2 weeks later after purchase, I screwed in the antennae just like normal, except it kept turning. Then I noticed that the RP-SMA connector was spinning too. I opened the router and found out that i coiled the wire and broke it (verified with a volt meter). So I ordered a new one from amazon for about 7 bucks (included 2 sets of U.FL to RP-SMA wires). Installed the new wire to the board, fit perfectly, mounted the connector back in the plastic hole next to the ethernet connectors and.... no go. The WLAN light will not light up anymore and I have these messages in the pineapple logs that have me worried. 00:01:01 Pineapple user.info sysinit: 'radio1' is disabled 00:01:01 Pineapple user.info sysinit: 'radio1' is disabled 00:01:01 Pineapple user.info sysinit: 'radio0' is disabled 00:01:00 Pineapple user.info sysinit: 'radio0' is disabled 00:00:55 Pineapple user.info sysinit: PHY for wifi device radio1 not found 00:00:55 Pineapple user.info sysinit: 'radio1' is disabled 00:00:55 Pineapple user.info sysinit: 'radio0' is disabled (As you've probably seen from the logs on your own router, the top entry is the most recent output) I hope I didn't short something further downstream in the board when the wire broke :( I don't know how to diagnose the problem from here. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  10. Running fw 2.6.1 using a powered hub with a flashdrive. When booting with my Atheros AR9271 (Alfa AWUS036NHA) inserted all is good, pineapple detects it as wlan1 and internal as wlan0 When booting with my Ralink RT2501/RT2573 inserted, pineapple detects it as wlan0 and internal as wlan1. Why is the Ralink assigned as phy0 instead of the internal wlan Only when booting the pineapple without the Ralink and inserting it after boot it will detect as wlan1. dmesg output with both devices inserted:
