  1. Hi all, Has anyone got any scripts that might allow me to look closely at the layer 1 and layer 2 information about the ethernet connection, alongside doing a tcpdump at the same time? I've got an IoT device (electronic lock) that has a pretty specific ethernet interface and i'd like to find out why it keeps dropping off the network. The lock only comes up as 10M half-duplex, so I'd like to see if that's normal, or if there are ethernet issues. Cheers, james
  2. From what I've gathered reading through this forum for the past 20 minutes, the interceptor is the community project that birthed the Packet Squirrel. What I want to know is, why even bother with the Pi/Packet squirrel? In Irongeek's implementation, he used a pi zero with an ethernet-usb adapter. Now, in 2018, we could use a pi zero and an usb/ethernet hub along with another ethernet adapter to achieve the same functionality. But, what was stopping them from using an arduino pro mirco/nano with 2 ethernet adapters and just logging everything to an SD Card? I may just be pandering, but I don't really have the money for a $50 mitm packet capturing device, so I was just wondering why it didn't work out when implemented using just an arduino, 2 ethernet adapters, and a micro sd adapter. I think that'd be a lot cheaper than a packet squirrel. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the interceptor just collecting packets, or is it forwarding them across the net?
  3. Okay, I feel dumb here: I have an ethernet-IP-cam and the only source for internet-access is a open Wifi-hotspot since the telephone-company thinks that area is a tiny town and nfortunately the DSL-connection there is total rubbish, not even near 2MBit downstream (~500kbit up is not even enough for sending emails...). As far as I understand it, if I connect the IP-cam over ethernet to the Pineapple V I can connect to the internal wifi-router to get access to the cam's webitnerface. BUT: How can I connect it to the open hotspot AND connect to the webcam? The hotspot-router doesn't allow access to the local IPs of the WLAN. Another prob is, that hotspot has a captive portal with a "click here to accept our terms" button AND the router disconnects the netaccess after 200MB/day per MAC-adress (I guess). Did anyone had to deal with something similar?
  4. I am really really brand new in Linux. I recently set up a lab for pen testing, but stuck by a few networking issues. Host window10, guest Kali linux, eth0 and eth1(both are in same subnet, also same as host-only adapter ), use both host-only and bridged modes. there are several questions for help: 1. firstly I enabled host-only network mode in virtualbox for Kali. By using eth0, I can ping host-only adapter on host successfully, but cannot ping host ethernet adapter. I think that is how host-only mode works. then I enabled Bridged mode, I thought there should be a new ethernet interface showing up on host, however, it didn't(until now only two interfaces on adapter settings, one is host ethernet interface, the other is host-only) . my question is whether it is normal... 2. continued the above scenario...I assumed that is normal...then in bridge mode of virtualbox setting, I selected host ethernet adapter name from dropdown list as the one for bridge. Also configure eth0, eht1, host-only adapter and host ethernet adapter into the same subnet. When I bring eth1 down and bring eth0 up, from host terminal, I cannot ping ip for eth0, but from Kali terminal I can ping host machine and 8.8.8.8, cannot ping host-only adapter, cannot open up google.com in browser(it really confused me...); if I bring eth0 down and bring eth1 down, can only ping host-only adapter. so it appears that eth0 only works for Bridge and eth1 only works for host-only, is that right ? 3. I noticed some posts mentioning that there should be a bridged connection between host-only adapter and one local area connection(also an adapter, in my scenario, host ethernet adapter is supposed to take this role), but I don't think it is true. can you guys advise ? 4, sorry, my question or description of the question are a little mess...words in bold are questions. before entering the real pen testing, I already got so much confusion, thanks a loooooot !
  5. Discussion thread for the RevShellBack payload. I've seen quite a few Rubber Ducky projects to do with getting a reverse shell running on a PC so that the shell can be accessed remotely on a different computer. But what got me thinking is this: the Bash Bunny is a full-on Linux ARM computer, right? It has netcat and it can do HID and ethernet simultaneously. So.. why not use that instead? At first, this payload will use a bit of HID trickery to hide itself from an observer as best as it can. As soon as it has done executing the final PowerShell command, HID is no longer used. User-defined commands will be sent to the computer in the background. By default, 4 commands are executed as a demo: Write file (with content) to the desktop Eject CD/DVD tray (if it exists) -- thank PowerShell for making that possible Open calculator application Message box -- powered by PowerShell For information about the payload, the payload script itself and how to configure it, it can be found at this GitHub repository: https://github.com/uintdev/RevShellBack
  6. I understand that part of the plan for the BB was Man in the Middle attacks, which is why I am running into an issue with one of the payloads I am playing around with. In an enterprise environment the system, unless its a laptop, may not cache credentials that you may have obtained. This being said if the user is not currently logged into the machine or has not logged in for a while, the system will attempt to reach out to a log in server. If the BB is the route the system takes to reach the internet, then the computer will throw an error like this All of that being said, i think a feature that may be helpful would be to allow for configuration of the Ethernet modes. This would allow you to set the connection to slower than most networks or maybe having no connection to the internet. This would also help when you do not wish to interrupt internet connectivity for the device. I cannot say that you cannot configure this already, but I can say I do not know how to configure this and that I am curious as to how I would do this.

  8. Hi Bunny hoppers The Bunny works on the principle that hosts detect it as 2Gb Ethernet. It then takes precedence over other networks. I noticed that if plugged in for the first time it works every time. If connected more than one time it sometimes detects with speed of 0 (images attached) which makes Bunny useless. Has anyone else experienced this? If I uninstall the driver and plug in again it will detect as 2Gb.
  9. Yes, I just got a new laptop and I tried to install my linux on it. not expecting Kali to be incompatible with the Killer e2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, I heard the modprobe alx was working is there any truth? and is that the only way to fix it? any help in appreciated :)
  10. I try typing in the ip address with the port, like 172.16.42.1:1471 and clicking enter until the cows come home and it never shows up anymore... At least, almost never. It hasn't shown up in the browser or wifi in several hours. I can't ping the device, even with the ethernet chord connected. I am wondering if a USB-Male-A to USB-A-Male would solve the problem or if I need to fix it over wifi. Ethernet light is on on the pineapple itself.
  11. I was playing around trying to be able to connect to the wifi pineapple via wifi again, and I screwed up my ethernet by accident. The only adapter I can diagnose that has something wrong is ethernet. Here is my network adapters: Here is the error I get when trying to diagnose it: And when I try to fix it as an administrator: Does anyone know if THIS might work? I am scared of trying it: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-hardware/how-do-i-replace-my-tcpip-protocol-driver/2d5eaf70-bd3e-40ab-ae11-b6c5110ab8df https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299357 How do I get ethernet protocol again, or fix whatever the problem is?
  12. Like the title says, I managed to log in one time, changed the timezone, now it's bricked. I've tried every method I can find to get it working. Multiple PC's, different cables, reboots galore, the oh so helpful "unbricking" instructions...you name it, I've tried it. Every method seems to assume you can actually connect to the darn thing, which of course, I can't! I get "Network cable unplugged" since it crashed, nothing works. If you have some secret method of getting this thing to work, and keeping it working, I would love to know before I RMA it. If you need more information, I will be happy to supply it.
  13. I just got my first Mark V the other day.. But when I was doing my research prior to purchase, I thought I saw something about the ability to connect two Mark V's together via the Ethernet ports for increased functionality. Is this true? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Doug
  14. Bought a Mark V at DefCon yesterday. Took it to my room and booted it up; saw the SSID, logged in and changed the password - that was all initially. Today I had to change hotels, and decided I would try to upgrade to 2.0 firmware. However this time when I booted up, I get no ethernet connection to my laptop or a switch. Also, no SSID is seen, though the AR9331 LED lights up as if it is on. After messing around for a while, I decided to try the "unbricking" instructions on the website. With the DIP switches set to the appropriate mode (up, up, up, up, down), it boots and I get an ethernet connection. I loaded the "factory image" as instructed and then reset the Dip switches and power cycle. However with the switches in their normal position, I still have no signal from the device and no ethernet. I am unable to do anything with a brand new device. HELP PLEASE
  15. I'm new to the forum. A friend of mine suggested that I check it out, and that I post my current project here. So here it is: https://github.com/zerotier/ZeroTierOne https://www.zerotier.com/ It's an open source Ethernet virtualization engine. It works by emulating an Ethernet switch (layer 2) over a peer to peer network. All the core infrastructure code is open and the service is free, though I've got a freemium model in place for networks that you create and manage through the control panel at zerotier.com. (Charging for convenience.) It kicks in with >10 devices or Ethernet bridging enabled. The charges only apply to private networks. You can create public networks of unlimited size for free. There's also a public network called Earth: https://www.zerotier.com/earth.html It's sort of like a global coffee shop WiFi. Obviously make sure your machine is secure before joining. People who want to run their own network configuration servers can do so by digging into the netconf-server/ subfolder in the source and following the directions there. Those directions are rather sparse so far, but it's probably enough for experts to go on. I can answer questions if anyone wants to play with that part. I'm curious to hear this forum's feedback, since it seems full of people who get this kind of thing. So far I've got reports of people running it on Raspberry Pi, using it to play old school games that only support IPX networking (it emulates Ethernet so it doesn't care what protocol you use), etc.
  16. Hi all! I'm at a loss, so collaboration time! SO: At my work , I have 5 elevators with digital reader boards in them (for the days events and some adverts) that auto-updates from an internal system. Through our internal system, we enter in "Bob Group" and say what meeting room they have and times. Then when we say "Post", that is (theoretically) supposed to send out to these Readerboards to be displayed at the appropriate day. The problem is: Only 2 of the 5 Function like this. Here's the fun part (Are you ready?): - Inside the elevator the PC is on an Eth line. - If I plug in my laptop to snif the other end , I get no link at all. Even the ISP can't find the MAC on the network. Even on the ones that are (theoretically) working. - The main "Player Controller PC" (handles how the reader board will display adverts, etc) is connected to a switch (and our ISP can see that). - At the top of the elevators (Where the pully engines are) , There are 5 wires on a troth going outbound.. Somewhere.. But there's actually 10: 5 blue and 5 White CAT5e. - Down the hall of the Elevator Control room, there's a mini-IDF room that has a wall- mounted cabinet with 5 Cat5e lines LABELED " Elevator 5, Elevator 6, Etc." - When I plug my laptop into that , Nothing. Not even Wireshark can find it. - I can't even find anything on a WiFi Sniff too. No beacon frames match the Elevator PCs at all. ...Is there something i'm missing, or is this a needle in a hay stack?
  17. Hi all, I was wondering if any1 here knows some hardware with the following requirements: Has to be able to run linux os Needs 2 ethernet ports ( 100Mb is enough ) Pref sd card or usb for OS Low power consumption Basicly its to make a small router. The best i could find is a Mirabox. But its still a bit to pricy for my needs ( dont need wifi + bluetooth ) Any leads for other hardware is welcome. kind regards, GuardMoony
  18. Hey guys. I'm new to Hak5 so please take it easy if I say something stupid... Anyways, I was wondering if there was a way to splicing a cat5e cable, with something like a t-junction connector, and then broadcast the traffic wirelessly on a private network? I'd really appreciate any ideas and you can also get me on gmail @ alaric.chidom@gmail.com
  19. I don't know what happened. It was working perfectly fine this morning. Suddenly when I plug in my ethernet cord I received with the pineappe device when I purchased it, Windows 7 is reporting "Network Cable Unplugged." Some people say it may have had something to do with the pineapple not getting enough power but I don't see how that was possible considering it was plugged into a wall jack. I also uninstalled my ethernet driver on Windows 7 and reinstalled it and that didn't help either. The pineapple itself seems to be working perfectly fine when I connect to it via wifi. But it just will not connect via ethernet. Any ideas on how to solve this problem would really really be appreciated.

  21. I just got the Mark IV pineapple and Im ready to get the road on the show. I followed the instructions in the booklet for "Connecting for the first time" with windows Ethernet testing- I'm running windows 8- but after configuring my home WiFi (internet facing adapter) and the LAN connection (Pineapple Facing Adapter) as illustrated in the booklet I still cant connect to 172.16.42.1/pineapple in my web browser.Whenever i try i just get a php.redirect and whatever page im on just reloads. my WiFi IPv4 and DNS is set to automatically obtain (Image 1) and pineapple settings are in Image 2. What do I need to do to get into the pineapple GUI!? any help would be greatly appreciated. Any additional info you may need just let me know. Image 1 Image 2
